NBA Rumors: Houston Rockets Want To Move Eric Gordon For A First-Round Pick

Eric Gordon is a former 6MOTY award-winner, and he is an experienced veteran guard that can do a little bit of everything offensively. This season with the Houston Rockets, Eric Gordon averaged 13.4 PPG, 2.0 RPG, and 2.7 APG while shooting 41.2% from beyond the arc.

The Houston Rockets are undergoing a rebuild, and they have already traded veteran big man Christian Wood away to the Dallas Mavericks. It seems as though Eric Gordon may be the next player to potentially get moved. NBA insider Jake Fischer reported that the Houston Rockets are “seeking a first-rounder” for him. It makes sense that the Houston Rockets would want to move their veterans that don’t match up with the timelines of their young core while accumulating draft assets for the future.

After trading Christian Wood for its steady asking price of a first-round pick, Houston is still seeking a first-rounder for Eric Gordon, per sources.

After trading Christian Wood for its steady asking price of a first-round pick, Houston is still seeking a first-rounder for Eric Gordon, per sources.

It remains to be seen if the Houston Rockets will receive that first-round pick that they are looking for or whether they will have to reduce their asking price. There’s no doubt that Eric Gordon could help a team that seeks to contend next season with his floor spacing and ballhandling. A number of teams were reportedly interested in the veteran guard ahead of this year’s trade deadline, most notably the Phoenix Suns.

Hopefully, we see the Houston Rockets move Eric Gordon to a team where he can end up competing in the playoffs. He has a good run with the team, spending 6 seasons in Houston and coming up big many times for them in the playoffs. It would be great to see the franchise do right by Eric Gordon by sending him to a contender while also getting a first-round pick that could help them in the future.
