On ‘The Great Debate’ on TNT, Shaquille O’Neal spoke about his time with Kobe Bryant. He noted that they were the most dominant, enigmatic, and controversial duo in NBA history.
And no other duo that has come after them has been able to duplicate the success and dominance they held on the court, and no duo ever will. Shaq strongly believes he and Kobe were the greatest duo ever.

Shaq came to the Los Angeles Lakers very early in his career but had a lot of experience. By the time he joined the Lakers in 1996, Shaq had become a perennial All-Star and had even been to an NBA Finals. As for Kobe, he quickly established himself as a star, becoming an All-Star for the first time in 1998.
By 2000, the duo led the Lakers to the NBA championship under the guidance of Phil Jackson. They would go on to win the next 2 NBA championships as well, becoming the last team to three-peat in the NBA.
The Kobe-Shaq Lakers are considered one of the greatest teams in NBA history, with former Laker Robert Horry recently saying he would pick them over the 2017 Warriors.
But their duo wasn’t meant to last forever, as problems between the two led to Shaq demanding a trade and joining the Miami Heat. Both players found championship success away from each other. But there is no denying that the time they shared together will never be forgotten by anyone.
