Luka Doncic may be one of the most talented and entertaining players in the NBA, but his antics on the court sometimes get him into trouble. That was the case in the Los Angeles Lakers‘ recent 108-102 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, where Doncic pulled off a bizarre move that backfired spectacularly.

Luka had the ref FUMING after he rubbed all of his head sweat onto the ball 😭

LeBron couldn’t believe what he did: ā€œHe did what?!ā€ 🤣

During a fourth-quarter free throw attempt by James Harden, Doncic, standing near the paint, decided to engage in some classic gamesmanship.

Instead of simply handing the ball back to the referee after the shot, Doncic deliberately wiped the ball all over his sweaty forehead before tossing it toward the official. The move, while subtle, was clearly noticed by the ref, who immediately reacted with visible disgust and called for a delay of game violation.

But it didn’t stop there. The referee, clearly unimpressed with Doncic’s antics, upped the penalty by slapping him with a technical foul, much to the dismay of the Lakers star. Doncic, smiling as he walked away, tried to play it off, but the damage had been done. The Clippers were awarded a free throw, adding an unexpected twist to what was already a tense game.

Doncic is known for his playful nature on the court, often flashing smiles and engaging in friendly trash talk. However, this move crossed the line for the officials, who saw it as an unnecessary delay and a disrespectful act toward the game. The moment quickly went viral on social media, with fans reacting in a mix of amusement and bewilderment.

Despite the unusual moment, the Lakers held on for their sixth straight victory, continuing their surge up the Western Conference standings. Doncic was once again instrumental, leading the team with 29 points, six rebounds, and nine assists.

His chemistry with LeBron James and the rest of the Lakers continues to improve, making them an increasingly dangerous team heading into the final stretch of the season.

However, the win wasn’t without its challenges. The Lakers blew a 21-point lead before holding off the Clippers in the final minutes. Kawhi Leonard did everything he could to bring his team back, scoring 33 points, but the Lakers’ defense held firm when it mattered most.

As for Doncic, he might want to rethink his approach when it comes to messing with officials. His sweaty-ball antic may have been meant as a joke, but it cost his team a technical foul in a close game. Moving forward, the Lakers will need Doncic to keep his focus on dominating opponents with his skill—not his sweat.
