Not to be left behind, Shams Charania has now reported the Coach Of The Year award winner, and this one isn’t very contentious, with Phoenix Suns coach Monty Williams winning the award.
Monty Williams led the Suns to the best record in the league this campaign at 64-18, comfortably clear of any of the other chasing teams. Williams’ team was easily the best in the league, the Suns were Top 5 in defense as well as offense. This will be the first time that Williams is named the NBA’s Coach Of The Year.

Williams beat out competition from Erik Spoelstra, who led the Miami Heat to the 1st seed in the Eastern Conference, and Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins, who led his young team to the second-best record in the entire league. He has made a name for himself since turning the franchise around since the Bubble in 2020 when the Phoenix Suns went unbeaten.
While Monty will surely feel honored having won this award, he will also be focused on the series at hand as the Phoenix Suns are now tied 2-2 with the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Semifinals. The Mavericks have won two games on the trot and hold the momentum, but Game 5 will take place in Phoenix, where Williams will be aiming to make the right adjustments to put his team back in the driver’s seat in this series. In any case, this season has been a sensational achievement for Williams and the Suns, and they will be hoping to cap it off by winning it all.
