The Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies are locked in an epic matchup in Round 2 of the 2022 Playoffs. Both sides have crossed the first hurdle in their hunt to win the 2022 NBA Championship.

So far the series has been extremely close and both sides have won one game apiece. The Warriors have an amazing lineup of multiple stars in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins. On the other hand, Ja Morant is the sole superstar of the Memphis Grizzlies.

On paper, the Warriors look like the heavy favorites to win the series, but it doesn’t seem like Morant and co. will give up that easy. Anyway, today our focus is on Ja Morant.

There is no doubt that Morant is an amazing player, and he has far exceeded the expectations of fans and sports analysts. In fact, some are already saying that once Ja hits his prime, he could become the face of the NBA.

Regardless of all the qualities that Ja possesses, there is something that fans have noticed in this series. It is the fact that the refereeing has been quite lackluster when Morant has the ball in his hand.

An NBA fan on Twitter dissected one such possession in Game 2 of the series, where Morant clearly carried the ball for about 7 seconds and yet the refs didn’t call it a foul. Here’s what the fan tweeted:

“Ja Morant carries the ball on pretty much every possession…and it never gets called. This is pretty excessive too.”

As shown in the video, Morant clearly places his hand under the ball, and that too for quite some time.

While one might give the benefit of the doubt to refs since they have to make the calls in real-time, at the end of the day it’s their job to make good calls. Moreover, people might overlook such calls once or twice, but such calls are being missed on a regular basis by the refs.
