The Golden State Warriors saw their five-game winning streak snapped in a stunning 126-119 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday. The Warriors came into this clash as one of the hottest teams in the NBA, but Jimmy Butler’s absence combined with Quentin Grimes’ career night contributed to them falling to 32-28 on the season.
Stephen Curry finished with a double-double for the Warriors against the 76ers, recording 29 points (10-18 FG), five rebounds, 13 assists, and one steal. Big man Quinten Post stepped up in Butler’s absence with 16 points (6-15 FG), nine rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block, while Draymond Green had 13 points (5-13 FG), eight rebounds, and eight assists, but it wasn’t enough.
The Warriors were expected to beat a 76ers team on a nine-game losing streak despite Butler’s absence, and their fans were distraught.
“Awful game. Don’t have to be a dogfight in the last minutes if they don’t miss open layups. Also, just leave Buddy in Philly,” a fan wants the Warriors to ditch Buddy Hield.
“Tell Draymond to let go from the game and focus on his pod. He’s not serious. This one was a sabotage from him. That’s the only explanation,” one Warriors fan ripped Green for some costly mistakes in the game.
“We made Grimes look like prime Kobe,” a fan thought that Grimes looked like Kobe Bryant at his peak against the Warriors.
“I genuinely hope Buddy Hield never sees the floor again for the rest of the season. This guy is supposed to be one of the best 3 point shooters and can’t make one to save his life. And we got Moody and Podz taking the night off. No excuse for this vs a team who lost 9 straight,” another Warriors fan is sick of Hield and doesn’t want him to play again.
“Such a avoidable loss. Bad effort in the 1st half, blown layups, bad defensive rotations, bad help defense, terrible shooting, mental errors, and no playmaking,” a Warriors fan called out the team for struggling in all facets of the game.
This really was a terrible night for the Warriors. Sure, some calls might not have gone their way, but they didn’t do themselves any favors with how they played. There were one too many lapses on defense, and they had an alarming number of blown layups as well.
You’d say that pretty much the only highlight of the night for the Warriors was Curry dunking for the first time in six years.

Those were Curry’s only two points in the fourth quarter, though, and he sure would have loved to have Butler around to take some of the attention away from him. The former Miami Heat star missed this game with back spasms, and the Warriors need him back as soon as possible.
Butler wasn’t the only star missing here, as Joel Embiid had been ruled out for the season on Friday. You’d have expected Paul George or Tyrese Maxey to step up in his absence, but Grimes stole the show. He finished with a career-high 44 (18-24 FG) points to go with six rebounds, one assist, three steals, and one block.
Grimes’ heroics led to the 76ers improving to 21-38 this season, and they’ll be in action next against the Portland Trail Blazers at Wells Fargo Center on Monday at 7 PM ET. The Warriors, meanwhile, will look to rebound from this loss when they face the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center on Monday at 7 PM ET.
