Karl-Anthony Towns had a stinker in Game 3 of the first-round series between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite the Wolves having a nearly 20-point lead, they somehow managed to blow it and end up losing by 9 points. This was mainly due to a fourth-quarter collapse that saw Memphis outscored by 25 points in 12 minutes.
Prior to that, the Wolves were feeling really good about themselves and had positive energy flowing through the team. They make sure that everyone went to bat for each other, be it when there is a dubious call or when one of them ends up on the floor. Teamwork will make the dream work, after all.
KAT tends to go a little overboard when he’s feeling the emotions from a game. While he had been playing very badly, he was still trash-talking off the bench and reacting to his teams’ highlight plays. This included a block, to which Towns started marching down and waving his towel in a hilarious display.

Minnesota’s showboating had backfired pretty spectacularly on them this game, as the Memphis comeback absolutely smoked the Wolves. They had no answer on either end of the court, and Memphis ran with that momentum despite being away from home. Minnesota couldn’t rally off the hungry home crowd cheering them on.
Towns is not going to have a lot of supporters in the media if the Timberwolves lose this series. He has done a lot of trash-talking and has also had plenty of moments where he has gone missing. Many are already arguing that Anthony Edwards value to the team is higher than KAT’s. Based on how the playoffs have been going, Minnesota might soon start to share that vision.
KAT is a leader and a phenomenal player, but you don’t get many shots at the Playoffs in Minnesota, and he has not made the most of the opportunity so far this post-season.
