Willie Green Reveals Zion Williamson Has Begun Full-Court Work

Zion Williamson is one of the best young talents in the league when he’s healthy. He is an amazing scorer and rebounder, who can bully his way inside and score on the rim. During the 2020-21 season, Zion Williamson averaged 27.0 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 3.7 APG.

While he has not played a single minute this season due to him rehabbing a foot injury, it seems as though Zion Williamson is getting closer to being game ready. Coach Willie Green has recently revealed that Zion Williamson has started doing “full-court work”. Andrew Lopez of ESPN relayed the news.

New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson has progressed to doing full-court work, but there is still no definitive timetable on his return to competitive play.

Williamson participated in a pregame scrimmage with Pelicans player development coaches and some players at the end of the roster, Pelicans coach Willie Green said on Thursday prior to New Orleans’ game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

“But he’s playing in more of a controlled scrimmage. That where he’s progressed to,” Green said. “Past that, there’s no update on him. He is where he is.”

“The beauty of it is that it’s good to see him on the floor,” Green added. “I think he’s feeling more normal, the fact that he gets to play basketball. That’s what he wants to do. That’s what he loves to do. We just want him to get as healthy as he can and continue to progress in that way.”

Zion Williamson’s step-father Lee Anderson has previously stated that he expects Zion Williamson to suit up this season. Williamson would give a huge boost to this Pelicans squad, as they have clinched a spot in the play-in tournament, and will need his scoring to have a better chance of getting to the playoffs.

Even if a comeback from Zion Williamson doesn’t end up happening this season, the New Orleans Pelicans will likely be a dangerous squad with him next season. Many people have forgotten just how good Zion Williamson is, and hopefully, he is able to remind everyone of his talent when he steps on the court again.
