Fans React To Jordan Poole Calling Steph Curry The MVP After 8-Point Performance vs. Bucks: “What MVP Is Walking Out With 8 In 33 Minutes?”

The Golden State Warriors pulled off a great win against the reigning NBA Champions Milwaukee Bucks. Warriors guards’ Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson combined for 66 points over the game to help put the Bucks away as mercurial guard Steph Curry ended the night with just 8 points.

Curry’s hot-start this season has significantly cooled off with the guard shooting poorly from the field and from the three in 2022. However, Curry’s gravity still demands a lot of attention and that is exactly what the Bucks did.

Milwaukee loaded up defense on Curry every time he stepped through half-court, forcing Curry to pass the ball out to Thompson and Poole. As a result, Curry ended the night with just 8 points but facilitated the offense for the other players. It was a solid performance, but Jordan Poole did raise eyebrows after calling Curry the MVP in his post-game interviews.

"It’s crazy when the MVP only has 8 points and we still win against a really, really good team." – Jordan Poole

While Curry’s skill and impact on the game are undeniable, Poole’s comment seems horribly timed. This is not the game that makes a strong case for Steph to be the MVP when we see facilitation like this at an arguably higher level from Nikola Jokic, in addition to consistent scoring performances.

Curry is not far removed from a bad loss at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks where he didn’t shoot the ball in the fourth quarter en-route to a tough loss that helped Mavericks claim the season series against Warriors 2-1.

With a lot of negative attention around Steph’s performances over the last couple of months, Twitter decided to have a field day with Poole’s comments and had some hilarious reactions to it.

🤣😂8 points on 7 shots is “MVP” production?? 🤣😂

The delusion that Curry is the MVP this season is almost as elite as Stephs 3 point shooting.

He was the MVP back in December..till he fell off a cliff and started putting up tour dates for shooting splits

I’m glad he’s calling Steph MVP because Kerr seems to think Joker is the MVP 🤦🏾‍♂️

Steph isnt even in the MVP race tf he on?

— Cheese Harvey (@TheCheeseHarvey) March 13, 2022

While the negativity was there, many fans defended Poole and Curry’s status as an MVP due to his offensive gravity that unlocked the offense to have the night that it had.

Yeah Steph is MVP he know what exactly to do when he’s double team or all the attention is with him. Pass the ball to the free on the floor!

— Shygurltype (@ImShyLabz) March 13, 2022

JP- because of SC gravity presence on the court. Everyone is free except him. You need to understand that.

While it may be unrealistic to have Curry in the MVP race this year, he does bring MVP-level play to the floor every night. Even though he created for others, an offensive weapon like him shouldn’t be called MVP after a night where he had just 8 points.
