Zion Williamson Has Returned To New Orleans And Has Been Cleared To Progress In Basketball Activities

Zion Williamson has not played a game for the New Orleans Pelicans yet this season, as he has been rehabbing a foot injury. His absence has clearly affected the team at the start of the season, but they have also improved since acquiring guard CJ McCollum, going on a 4-0 run post-All-Star break.

Despite many speculating that he could be out for the season, there has been a lot of recent good news about his recovery. Previously, the New Orleans Pelicans revealed that Zion Williamson’s foot has shown signs of improved bone healing.

Update on Zion: Recent imaging showed improved bone healing of the fifth metatarsal in Zion Williamson’s right foot. He will gradually progress to full weight-bearing exercise and basketball activities. He remains out indefinitely.

More recently, Shams Charania and William Guillory of The Athletic revealed that Zion Williamson has been cleared for basketball activities, and has returned to the city of New Orleans.

New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson is returning to New Orleans after spending time in Portland for his foot rehab and is cleared to progress in basketball activities, sources tell The Athletic.

This is definitely good news for the New Orleans Pelicans fans. If they are able to add a healthy Zion Williamson to their current team, they could potentially make the playoffs, and be competitive in the postseason. Last season, Zion Williamson was putting up 27.0 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 3.7 APG, while shooting 61.1% from the field. Williamson is a force on the interior and would give the team yet another player who can get his own shot.

It would be great to see Zion Williamson return this season if he’s healthy. If not, then he can focus on getting healthy for next season, and there’s no doubt that the New Orleans Pelicans would be an insanely good team with him.
