Jarrett Allen has proven to be a massive get for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The former Nets big man made his way to Cleveland as part of the trade to land James Harden in Brooklyn. And in that time, he has established himself as one of the best young big men in the NBA, being named an All-Star for the first time this year.
Allen is one of the key pieces on a very exciting Cleveland Cavaliers squad. He and Darius Garland form the core of a young squad that is expected to be a contender in the near future for the first time since LeBron James left the franchise in 2018. But Allen had to make some sacrifices for the camaraderie of the team, one that may seem slightly odd to fans.
Jarrett Allen recently revealed that he had to make the jump from an Android phone and buy an iPhone because his teammates weren’t letting him be part of the group text. The Cavs use iMessage for their group texts and demanded Allen get an iPhone so they could have all blue text messages on the group.

This is not that uncommon. Last year, there was a report that Jason Kidd punished Thon Maker for having an Android as it disrupted the rest of the team’s group chat. But this turned out to be false, as Maker himself came out and denied this ever happening. If it didn’t happen in Milwaukee, it certainly has now happened in Cleveland.
Regardless of loyalties to Apple or Android, the Cavaliers know what kind of player they have in Allen. Allen could become the best big man in the NBA in the years to come. His presence is one of the reasons Jalen Rose suggested that LeBron James should join the Cavaliers in order to win another NBA championship.
