Steve Kerr Gets Real On Steph Curry’s Ugly Shooting Slump: “He’s Reminding Everybody That He Actually Is Human.”

After two full seasons, the Golden State Warriors got to welcome back one of their own when Klay Thompson returned to action earlier this month.

With Klay still getting his feet back under him, Steph Curry has settled into a particularly nasty shooting slump that has included five of the worst performances of his career.

Amid Steph’s struggles, head coach Steve Kerr issued the following statement in support of the Warriors star:

“Steph looks great physically,” Kerr told reporters, via Janie McCauley of the Associated Press. “The last few games he’s playing some of his basketball in terms of handling the point guard duties. He’s taking care of the basketball, he’s playing great defense, shots just aren’t going.”

“I think what’s happening right now is he’s reminding everybody that he actually is human. He’s seemed inhuman for so long. I think everybody just expects him to be in a groove all season long and it’s just not the way it works.”

Curry isn’t the only star who has gone through a rough patch this season. Damian Lillard, Trae Young, and James Harden are just a few names who have endured major slumps.

Still, Curry refuses to offer up any excuses.

“Who gives a damn about excuses?” said Curry. “Nobody wants to hear about why… You either makes shots or you miss shots. I gotta start making some shots… It’s a big picture perspective on how you approach the game, the work that you put in. It’s obviously frustrating. I want to shoot the ball… I kicked a chair the other day for that reason. It’s not like I don’t care. I try to figure it out. But I don’t get preoccupied with it… I need to make shots to get to the level we want to be at. Other than that, not worried about it.”

The Warriors are just 5-5 in their last 10 games, bad enough to be called one of their worst stretches of the season. Fortunately, Golden State has some losses to spare after their stellar start.

While Curry is probably playing some of the worst basketball of his career right now, his presence alone makes a huge difference for the Warriors and they shouldn’t lose much ground in the standings.

But until Steph re-discovers his shooting stroke, the team cannot reach its full potential.
