For many fans, LeBron James’ prime was during the time he played with the Miami Heat. He formed one of the most dominant teams, joining fellow friends and All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and took the franchise to 4 consecutive NBA Finals, winning back-to-back NBA Championships in 2012 and 2013, and won regular season and Finals MVPs in both those years.

James’ departure from Miami was abrupt, as he left to rejoin the Cleveland Cavaliers, and bring a championship to his home state’s franchise. But there is no doubt that LeBron played some of the best basketball of his career, and experienced the most success when it comes to winning NBA championships.

LeBron clearly still has a lot of love for the city and the franchise to this day and showed that love last night on Instagram after the Lakers’ game against the Miami Heat. On Instagram, LeBron posted a picture where he is standing under the Miami Heat’s championship banners, and used the Drake song ‘305 To My City’ as the caption, paying homage to his former franchise and city.

The Miami Heat Instagram account reciprocated the love for LeBron James in the comment and called him ‘champ’, thus acknowledging the 2 NBA championships, and incredible success he brought to the franchise during his stint there.

The relationship between LeBron and Miami has improved over the years. Recently, Miami Heat president Pat Riley had high praise for LeBron, calling him one of a kind, and a mix of some of the greatest players in NBA history. And head coach Erik Spoelstra also had kind words for LeBron, noting how he is one of the few pass-first players in the NBA capable of leading the league in scoring.

The night was not all that good for LeBron and the Lakers, as they lost to the Heat. Their defense was so bad on the night that the Heat’s commentator actually slammed their defense after Duncan Robinson was easily able to find his way to the basket during the fourth quarter.
