Steph Curry’s influence on the game of basketball is unmistakable. When he entered the league in 2009, nobody had a clue just how much he’d change the NBA.

Over the past decade, Curry’s shooting has opened a whole new world of possibilities and the three-pointer has been been given a whole new level of importance. As the greatest shooter, nobody can live up to Curry’s marksmanship, and it has shown in the way his team (the Warriors) have dominated their competition over the years.

While most have welcomed the era of Curry and the Warriors, some fans are still bitter about the way things have changed. For some, Curry’s takeover has completely destroyed the game.

In a recent chat with the media, the Warriors star actually addressed those people, fighting back against the narrative that he ‘ruined’ basketball forever.

“I’ll get tagged on something on social media, like, ‘You ruined the game,’” Curry told The Athletic. “Anybody who knows basketball knows where I stand on that. It’s an amazing way to play the game. It opens up the creative. Everybody loves to shoot the ball. But you can’t skip the work and years and years and years and years of reps that I put in and everybody on this level has. So, don’t skip that process. It is a fun way to play, and it’s dope to know that everybody feels an attachment to it.

“People are going to talk shit. Hate and love and criticism and celebration — everything. That’s why I stay so even keel.”

In the pasts decade, the Warriors have made five Finals appearances and won three NBA Championships. They also won an NBA record 73 games back in 2016.

In that time, Steph Curry has become a globally recognized name and his popularity has reached amazing heights.

But has his arrival really hurt the NBA product? While the question may be subjective, there is no doubt that the 2x MVP has made his mark on the game in a way nobody else has.
