Russell Westbrook On What The Lakers Can Do To Beat Top Teams: “I Don’t Have An Answer To That One”

Russell Westbrook keeps struggling with the Los Angeles Lakers, playing at a low level with the Purple and Gold. He’s yet to win an NBA championship and doesn’t seem too bothered about that. Still, Lakers fans expect him to play like the superstar that dominated the offensive end in OKC, Houston, and Washington.

So far, the 2017 NBA MVP has disappointed everybody in Los Angeles, failing to step up for Anthony Davis, who remains sidelined due to an injury. Brodie has been unable to help LeBron James win games, which has earned him plenty of criticism from fans and analysts alike.

To make things worse, Russ doesn’t seem to have an answer to the Lakers’ issues, as he recently stated. They still have a lot of work to do before being serious championship contenders, but every time they face a top team, they struggle to show a good face.

For instance, the Memphis Grizzlies visited Crypto.com Arena on Sunday night, defeating the Purple and Gold for the third time this season. While Ja Morant had a terrific night, submitting his application to the block of the year, Russell Westbrook lived a nightmare against the Grizzlies.

He barely scored 7 points, to go along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The Lakers were a complete disaster, with LeBron James outscoring the rest of the starting lineup by 13 points.

Following the match, Westbrook was inquired about the adjustments the team must do, and the player simply replied he didn’t have an answer to that.

“Um,” he said, “I don’t have the answer to that one.”

The Grizzlies snapped the Lakers’ 4-game winning streak, once again exposing their failures. They took advantage of the Purple and Gold’s low night, taking the most advantage of Westbrook’s struggles to record their 28th victory of the season.

While Memphis looks better by the day, the Lakers faced reality once again. They are inconsistent and nothing they do can change that. It’s time to make some major changes on the roster or their chances to win it all will close really fast. They return to action this Wednesday, trying to bounce back against the disastrous Sacramento Kings.
