Bleacher Report

Klay Thompson is one of the most loved players in the NBA. He is well-known for his explosive shooting performances, and it is clear that a lot of fans and players have missed watching him play.

For a player coming back from two serious injuries, Klay Thompson actually had a pretty solid debut. He scored 17 points while shooting 37.5% from beyond the arc. Klay Thompson had a hilarious evaluation of his own performance, claiming that “nothing has really changed” as he took 18 shots in 20 minutes.

Klay Thompson: “18 shots in 20 minutes. Nothing has really changed.”

It was quite obvious that Klay Thompson was still willing to empty the clip, even though his minutes were limited due to this being his first game coming back from injury. He has shown that he’s still a solid marksman from deep, and as he gets reacclimated to the NBA scene, we’ll potentially see some more electric performances from him like we used to.

The Golden State Warriors were a contending team even without Klay Thompson, and now that he has returned they will be even better. Even if he won’t be the 20 PPG scorer that he used to be, having him as a floor spacer will open up the floor for slashers like Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins, as well as giving Stephen Curry more space to operate.

Hopefully, we see Klay Thompson return to the same level of play as before his ACL and Achilles injuries. Luckily, his game was never based on extreme athleticism like others, so he’ll likely still be effective on the offensive end. Thompson has claimed it will only take him a few weeks to feel like an All-Star again. The Splash Brothers are back together, and they look ready to dominate the league once again.
