Klay Thompson Sends A Big Message To The League Ahead Of His Return: “How Many Times Do I Have To Do Something That No One Else Has Ever Done Before And Get Respect?”

Klay Thompson is getting ready for his long-awaited NBA return after almost three years of absence. The Golden State Warriors shooting guard suffered two season-ending injuries, which hurt him and his team, who were absent from the playoffs, just like Klay was from the team’s lineup.

He’s expected to make his return tomorrow against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Chase Center. The shooting guard is ready to prove doubters wrong, and the Warriors can’t be more excited about his comeback. The last time he played an NBA game, it was the 2019 NBA Finals the Warriors lost to the Toronto Raptors.

A lot has changed since that moment, and Klay is hungrier than ever. Talking with Nick Friedell of ESPN, the Splash Brother explained how he got ready for this moment and the motivation to face the remainder of the 2021/22 NBA season. He wants his respect and won’t rest until he finally gets it.

“I know myself. I know how good I am. I know the things I’ve done. … It’s like — how many times do I have to do something that no one else has ever done before and get respect? Do I have to go score 50 in a quarter now? Like, what the hell? It’s whatever though, man. It’s over with. I’m going to use it as fuel.”

Thompson will play with a chip on his shoulder and that should worry the rest of the NBA. This man is out for blood and the Warriors have everything to maximize his impact on the game.

“I’m excited to get out there and prove to people who I am,” Thompson says. “I know they forgot because I’ve been out for two years, but I’ve never been hungrier seeing that stuff. Never been hungrier. And the best way at revenge is to win. Seriously.”

The Dubs had a rough week, with Stephen Curry having low games. They’re now ready to receive Klay and he’s set to show he still got it. If he returns like Kevin Durant did last season, the Warriors will be an even bigger problem for the rest of the Western Conference.

Golden State hosts Cleveland tomorrow at 9.30 PM ET at Chase Center.
