Most people would run out of superlatives when trying to describe Michael Jordan. MJ was a phenomenon in the sports world the likes of which we rarely see. He completely revolutionized the NBA and made basketball one of the most popular sports across the world.

There are so many statistics and figures that one can pull up in order to explain Michael Jordan’s dominance. He was an incredibly determined figure, and someone obsessed with winning. MJ was also an incredible defender, even winning a Defensive Player Of The Year in his career despite his size.

But the most notable skill that Jordan possessed was scoring. MJ was a gifted scorer, who could get points on the board in any way he wanted. This is why he is considered the greatest scorer ever. And this particular stat further reinforces the argument for MJ being the best.

Michael Jordan is the only player in NBA history to score 50 points in three different decades. He did so in the 1980s, 1990s, and even in the 2000s. The most impressive of these would be the 2000s, as Jordan was in his late 30s playing for the Washington Wizards, but still managed to get 50 on the board at least once.

While MJ’s stint in Washington is not looked back at for his incredible play, he was still a great scorer. In fact, Michael Jordan, along with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James are the only three players to average 20/5/5 during a span of a season while being over 36 years of age. For Jordan, his scoring ability did not dissipate with his age, as it does for most players.

Jordan came back out of retirement for the second time in 2002 to play for the Wizards mostly as a formality. Jordan had become a part of the franchise and wanted to help them out. But that didn’t take away from his competitive spirit, as Jordan still showed that he could go, despite being close to 40 years old at the time.

MJ is also the oldest player to win an NBA scoring title, doing so at the age of 35, during his final season with the Chicago Bulls. Jordan was capable of putting points on the board at any point. And these are just some of the many reasons he is considered the best to ever play the game.
