- AC Green talks about LeBron James’ time with the Los Angeles Lakers
- Green compared James’ career to Michael Jordan’s two-year stint with the Washington Wizards
- Green also drew comparisons to Magic Johnson’s return to the Lakers in 1995
LeBron James will be playing his sixth year for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023-24 NBA season. James’ time with the Lakers has been full of ups and downs.
Yes, he has led the Lakers to an NBA Championship in 2020, but the team has also missed the postseason twice as well. Former NBA All-Star AC Green recently shared his thoughts on the King’s time with the Lakers. He compared it to Michael Jordan’s two-year time with the Washington Wizards and Magic Johnson’s short return to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1995.
“I think the size and the metamorphosis of their bodies, OK? They became bigger versions of themselves, but they were able to be more effective with a perimeter and a post-game,” Green told Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson. “When Michael went to the Wizards, when Magic came back he played even more inside the paint or near the paint and that was just special by itself, you know?”
He added: “So I was just excited about seeing and hearing that, but I think also how LeBron can go coast-to-coast and how he can go up and down the court — it does so many times remind me of Magic; being able to to do that — ball handles, size, creativity, the vision. He hasn’t lost that at all. I still stand back in awe. LeBron has always been one of my guys.”

Michael Jordan came back to the NBA in 2001 as a 38-year-old, but this time around he joined the Washington Wizards. He averaged 21.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game over two seasons. Jordan was essentially on one leg, but that didn’t stop him from averaging excellent numbers for the Wizards.
On the other hand, Magic Johnson returned to the NBA in 1995 for 32 games. Johnson was 31 when he retired due to being diagnosed with HIV. After staying retired for four seasons, Johnson announced his return. During the 32 games he played as a 36-year-old, he averaged 14.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game.
