Kyrie Irving is a spectacular player who has proven his ability over the years. He’s a 7-time All-Star and an NBA champion. Recently, he’s made the news because of concerns about his availability, as his status as an unvaccinated player could potentially cause him to miss home games in New York due to local laws.

Adrian Wojnarowski has recently reported that the Brooklyn Nets are “unclear” about whether Kyrie Irving will ultimately get vaccinated and that they have made “no decision” on accommodating him as a “part-time player”.

The Brooklyn Nets remain unclear on All-Star guard Kyrie Irving’s ultimate intentions to get vaccinated and have made no decision on whether the organization will accommodate him as a part-time player this season, sources told ESPN.

There had been previous optimism that Irving would get vaccinated and fulfill local governmental mandates allowing him to practice and play in New York this season, but that hope is waning and Irving’s continued resistance to vaccination has the Nets preparing for the possibility that they’ll be without him for home practices and games for the foreseeable future, sources told ESPN.

If Irving remains unvaccinated, the Nets could be faced soon with a decision on whether they’ll allow Irving to come and go with the team in and out of New York — or just keep him sidelined all together, sources said.

Missing Kyrie Irving for home games wouldn’t be good for the Brooklyn Nets. James Harden and Kevin Durant still make the Brooklyn Nets a potential contender, but losing Kyrie Irving means that they’re no longer the favorite that many painted them us. 72% of NBA GMs believe that the Brooklyn Nets will win the NBA championship, though that number likely assumes that everyone is available. Any team missing a starter for half the season would likely make them worse, and that is exacerbated when the starter is an All-NBA caliber performer.

Hopefully, the Brooklyn Nets and Kyrie Irving can figure this situation out. It seems as if the Nets are unsure of the steps they should take regarding Kyrie Irving, but perhaps they’ll come up with a solution before the start of next season.
