Alex Caruso On The Bulls Being Back: “11 Games Into The Season, I Don’t Think You Could Say Anybody’s ‘Back.'”

At the height of their existence, the Chicago Bulls won 6 NBA Championships with guys like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman leading the way.

They embodied greatness at a scale that hasn’t been seen since, especially for the franchise.

You see, over the past few decades, Chicago hasn’t been back to the NBA Finals. In fact, the team has been a fringe playoff team, at best, and that was during the few years Derrick Rose was healthy.

Today, Chicago has reignited the fire they had all those years ago and, at 8-3, there is genuine excitement about what is to come.

Still, after the team’s most recent victory, Alex Caruso did his best to temper expectations, knowing the Bulls still have a long way to go before they can claim to “be back.”

Via NBA:

“We have games here and there where we’re just kind of finding ways to win and I think that’s the sign of a good team,” said Caruso. “But I think we have a lot of ways to get better. I think that’s probably the most encouraging thing for me. We’ve got a lot of games to go; 8-3?”

Back? he was asked.

“Eleven games into the season, I don’t think you could say anybody’s ‘back,’ said Caruso. “Especially for the prestige of the Bulls. Like, they won three championships in a row twice. Being back, that’s a big statement.”

The signing of DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball has done wonders for the team, and they find themselves near the top in most categories.

The question is, is their play sustainable, or will they crash and burn before too long?

With a lackluster modern history, steep competition in the East, and an untested roster, there is plenty of reason to doubt they can string together a long playoff run.

We’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves,
