In his prime, Andre Drummond was viewed as an All-Star level player at the center position, in particular being well-renowned for his rebounding ability. However, as of right now, he is a backup big man, playing for the Chicago Bulls.

When speaking to a group of young hoopers recently, Andre Drummond shared an inspirational message.

“I understand where you guys are… a lot of this is new… To be pouting on the bench, making faces, not cheering your f***ing teammates on… I was that guy… I had a bad attitude. I went from $100 Million dollars to a fu**ing league minimum. They don’t care how many rebounds you get, or how many threes you make. They care about you as a person, are you a good teammate? Are you a good locker room guy?… You play 100% every time you step on that f***ing floor.”

There is no doubt that this is a positive sentiment from Andre Drummond. He wants these players to make it at the highest level, and this advice is extremely valuable. Though ability on the court obviously matters, attitude and approach to the game do as well.

This past season, Andre Drummond averaged 6.0 PPG, 6.6 RPG, and 0.5 APG for the Chicago Bulls. Hopefully, he has a good season and can earn a bigger contract next year.

Andre Drummond Has Spoken Out About Mental Health In The Past

We have seen Andre Drummond speak out about other issues in the past as well. In fact, he once opened up on mental health, noting that it is entirely acceptable to have times when you “ask for help”.

“People need to understand that we do have personal lives outside of the game of basketball and it becomes taxing at times. That superhero cape we have on has to come off at some point in time. It’s OK to ask for help. It’s OK to feel. It’s OK to be emotional. We’re all men, but we have to be OK with having feelings.”

It is clear that Andre Drummond is the sort of person that wants the best for everyone, no matter what. We need more people like that in the world, and it is good to hear him impart his wisdom to the public.
