Wing player Josh Giddey is one of the most talented players on the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he is well-known for being an elite playmaker at 6’8. Though it is clear that he isn’t a star-level player yet, he can definitely be a great player at some point in the future.

Former Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut recently had some huge praise for Josh Giddey, claiming that he can become the “greatest Australian player” in NBA history. Christos Tsaltas of Sportal relayed the news.

“He’s been great. Josh was labeled as not athletic and not fast enough; ‘What is he, a one or a two?’ He’s a basketball player. He just knows how to play. His development has been sensational. He’s always had the ability to rebound and pass. I think the scoring was the biggest question and he’s proven he can get to the paint. His 3-point shot is getting better and better. He’s putting a lot of work into his 3-point shot this season again. He’s still not where he wants to be, but he’s getting better, better and better. I’m excited. He’s going to be the greatest Australian player to play in the NBA. He’s gonna break a lot of records for Australian players with points, rebounds, assists and all those things.

There’s no doubt that there have been some solid Australian players over the course of NBA history. Star Kyrie Irving notably has Australian citizenship, and Ben Simmons is also a player that has made multiple All-Star teams. That is a high bar for Josh Giddey, but he has the talent to be great.

This season, Josh Giddey averaged 16.6 PPG, 7.9 RPG, and 6.2 APG for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He still has room to grow, and we’ll see just how good Giddey can become in the future.

Chet Holmgren Believes He, Josh Giddey, And Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Can Become The Next Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, And James Harden

Josh Giddey is part of an elite young core on the Oklahoma City Thunder, and they have a high ceiling as a team. In fact, Chet Holmgren previously claimed that he, Josh Giddey, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander can become the next Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden.

“Obviously, I believe in the players we have on this team, I believe in the coaching staff, I believe in the organization as a whole, so the answer is an obvious yes. I think we can reach really high heights. At the end of the day, it’s going to come down to what the guys in the locker decide to come together and achieve. It’s not going to be an overnight thing. We’re having early success, but just because we’re having success doesn’t make it easy for the next 10 years. We’re still going to have to work hard and work through different challenges. That’s something that we’ll strive to do. We got a lot of high-quality characters in our locker room, so I’m excited to get out there and work with those guys.”

It will be interesting to see how good the Oklahoma City Thunder can become. They have a lot of potential, and perhaps we’ll even see them in the Finals at some point going forward.
