With Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, the Warriors have built a dynasty that will be etched in the NBA history books forever.
And while the Dubs are no longer at the height of their powers (that ended when Kevin Durant left in 2019), they are still a team to be feared, thanks to their core trio and some help from role-players like Andrew Wiggins.
In a chat on ‘The VC Show,’ the young swingman spoke about his current situation with the Warriors and about what it’s like playing alongside some of the best players in the world.
“All those guys were very encouraging and motivating. Steph, Draymond, all them,” Wiggins said of Golden State’s veterans on The VC Show. “They all did a lot for me in a lot of different ways. One thing they all do is they all hold you accountable. When you do something wrong, they’re gonna get at you. But the thing that I love about them is that when you do it right, they’re gonna be the first people to come up to you and congratulate you. I feel like that goes a long way. They’ve taught me a lot on and off the court, so I cherish those guys.”
Wiggins’ tenure with the Warriors has been bliss. After years of underwhelming play with the Timberwolves, he joined a cast in Golden State that has brought the best out in him.
Now, he’s considered an essential part of the core — to the point where even the competition is starting to recognize his importance.
“It was just guys who knew their roles,” said Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. “Like an Andrew Wiggins. I think he was the one who beat us, and I told him that after the series. We knew what to expect from Klay and from Steph and from Draymond. We didn’t know what to expect or how Wiggs would step up, and he did.”
After raising the Larry O’Brien trophy this summer, Wiggins has achieved the ultimate prize. But it doesn’t mean that he’s done.
He’s going to continue to work, grind, and prepare for the upcoming fight. If the Warriors are to repeat as champions, Wiggins will have to be better than he ever has before.
