Lakers superstar Anthony Davis flexed his powers in Game 1 this week and really showed the Warriors what he can be at his best.

Sadly, Davis was unable to follow it up on Thursday, and the result was a blowout loss to the Warriors, where Davis only dropped 11 points and 7 rebounds on 45% shooting. Speaking after the game, Davis was honest about his play and the mentality he has on it knowing the result.

“I took all the same shots I took in Game 1. I just missed ’em.”

Davis caught a lot of heat for his play in Game 2, but really his up-and-down play through the entire playoffs has been nothing but concerning for Lakers fans.

The team needs AD to be their best player if they want any chance to win this series, let alone the title. So far, he hasn’t shown he can be that for a significant stretch of time.

Now, the burden falls on 38-year-old LeBron James to keep his team alive.

Can AD Lead The Lakers To A Title?

No matter what you say about AD’s health concerns, his talent is undeniable, and there’s a chance for him to dominate every game that he’s on the floor.

This season, the Lakers have found a way to use his strengths to power through the season, but here’s only so far he can go without some help.

“When you look at me and Bron, we consider ourselves one of the top duos in the league, said Davis. “We’re trying to do everything we can to try to take advantage of this window that we have. Championship-built teams don’t always come around.”

The Lakers took care of business against the Grizzlies, but this battle is where the real stakes are. As two of the powerhouses in the West, whoever comes out of this series may just go on to win the whole thing.

So it’s now or never for this team, and after getting blown off the floor in G 2, they’ll need to have a strong showing on Saturday if they want to avoid total disaster.

As long as AD is making shots, they should have a chance, but it’s hard to tell which version of him the Lakers will get on any given day…
