Anthony Davis Was Reportedly Frustrated With Dennis Schroder’s Playmaking

3 Min Read

It’s not a secret that Dennis Schroder’s tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers became a nightmare for the player and the team. After landing in L.A. as a great addition to defend the 2020 NBA championship, this experiment turned out to be a nightmare for all parties involved.

Now Schroder is part of the Boston Celtics after signing a $5.9 million with the C’s. He had turned down a 4-year, $84 million contract extension offer by the Lakers, trying to prove he was worth more than that.

Dennis was helpless after that, with everybody doubting him, leaving him with a few options to continue his NBA career. The lone season he spent with the Lakers was a complex one, and recent reports claim his teammates weren’t happy with his style of play.

According to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, Anthony Davis felt frustrated with his looks at the post last season. AD didn’t feel happy when Schroder ran the Lakers’ offense, which was different from Rajon Rondo the prior season.

“Per an NBA source familiar with some of the Lakers’ struggles through the 2020-21 campaign, Davis felt some frustration that he wasn’t getting the kind of looks in the post with Dennis Schroder running the point compared to those he received with [Rajon] Rondo a year earlier,” Pincus wrote.

Last season was full of struggles for the Lakers. Injuries, inconsistency, and more prevented the team from competing in the 2021 playoff. They were eliminated by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the postseason, with Schroder, LeBron James, and co. struggling to get past the young and inexperienced Suns.

Russell Westbrook will be their starting point guard this upcoming campaign, while Rajon Rondo will come off the bench to take some pressure off Brodie’s shoulders. The Lakers are considered title favorites after all the moves they made in the offseason.

It remains to be seen if their experienced and talented roster can take them to the promised land again.
