Austin Rivers Describes Rockets’ Struggles Against Lakers’ Size: “I Should Not Be Down Here In This Paint. I’m 6-4, 215 Pounds, And These Dudes Are 6-10, 6-11, 7-Feet… 260, 270.”

The Houston Rockets made a huge bet on the small-ball lineup that didn’t take them past the second round of the playoffs, where the Lakers exposed and took advantage of their flaws, easily winning the series in five games. Even though they won the first game of the series and things looked very promising for them, the Rockets couldn’t handle the Lakers for the rest of the series and succumbed against the Lakers.

During a recent Instagram Live, Rivers was talking to fans about several topics. When Anthony Davis made stopped by the live stream, Rivers described how difficult it was for the Rockets to fight the rebounds with the purple and gold. Davis, JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard were always there and the Rockets couldn’t do much against that.

“Going to the basket, I got you and JaVale [McGee] down there. We were switching everything, too. I’m switching on AD, Bron, JaVale… and I’m hacking the [expletive] out of these dudes. I was like, ‘What are we doing? I should not be down here in this paint.’ I’m 6-4, 215 [pounds], and these dudes are 6-10, 6-11, 7-feet… 260, 270,” Rivers said.

AD has been on a different level during the playoffs. He has played a great ball in the Finals, too, making the case for the Finals MVP if the Lakers win the title. Rivers believe his former teammate should be the winner of the award given how well he’s playing, looking dominant on both ends of the floor.

“AD is on his way to getting that Finals MVP,” Rivers said to his barber and the fans. “It’s incredible. 27 years old, bro.”

The Lakers lost the third game of the series against the Miami Heat but that hasn’t changed anybody’s mind. They are still the favorites to win it all and AD has a big chance to take home his first FMVP award.
