Ben Simmons is ramping up for what everyone hopes will be a comeback season for the former All-NBA talent. Fans are showing their support for Ben, but one fan may have gone overboard by getting a tattoo of Ben’s face on his chest. Even the Nets’ star didn’t look very thrilled by the fan’s actions.

Getting a tattoo of a player like Simmons is insane. Very few players are actually worth memorializing on your body, and this includes the likes of LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant. But to get Simmons’ face permanently added to your chest is a decision I just can’t endorse.

While this tattoo may not be worse than the ‘2022 Champions’ tattoo a Celtics fan had gotten during the 2022 Playoffs, it’s still pretty bad. Naturally, fans around the NBA were tearing into the decision and Ben’s reaction upon seeing it.

Fans Find This Interaction Hilarious

One fan pointed out how Simmons’ face becomes very emotive and can’t hide his feelings on the bizarre encounter.

Another fan pointed out that Simmons reluctantly gave his towel to the fan, instead of how players usually give a jersey or their shoes to a superfan.

Fans started to go into the superfan’s decision to get that tattoo on his chest.

The attack from fans continued with more hilarious posts.

Fans couldn’t get over how even Ben felt like that tattoo was too much.

The jokes continued as fans were bemused by the decision to get a tattoo of Ben Simmons.

Expressing your fandom is one thing and getting a tattoo of a player like Simmons is another thing. This may have been somewhat understandable if Ben was a beloved NBA player or a superstar, but he’s quite the opposite.

He’s earning his reputation back after upsetting NBA fans with his actions in recent seasons, dropping from an All-NBA talent who could lead a franchise to a role player on an inflated contract.

Spencer Dinwiddie Calls Ben Simmons ‘An Athletic Draymond Green’

Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie has spent half a season with the franchise after joining in February as part of the Kyrie Irving trade. He’s seen enough from Simmons to realize the impact he could have in the NBA, calling him an athletic version of Draymond Green.

“Ben is in his best form, and is a far more athletic Draymond Green.”

The similarities are hard to ignore. Ben is a defense-first playmaker who is too big to play point guard. Simmons’ athletic gifts allow him to be a valuable point guard due to his transition scoring ability and playmaking. If Simmons can reconcile with playing the kind of role Draymond does on the Warriors, he may be one of the best players in the league again.

Simmons averaged 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in an injury-filled season with the Nets. But with the star looking healthy, it seems like he will get an opportunity to live up to his potential. If Ben can even return to the level he was on the defensive end of the ball, he, Mikal Bridges, and Nicolas Claxton could form the foundation of the best defensive team in the NBA.

A big year for Simmons could rehabilitate his value ahead of his 2025 free agency. Keeping the Nets as a bonafide playoff roster in the East would be a great step in that direction.
