The Los Angeles Lakers hit a new low last night, losing yet another important game, this time to the Dallas Mavericks. This game was considered a must-win for the Lakers, as losing would mean that they would drop to the 11th seed, thus falling out of contention for the play-in tournament. And without LeBron James on the court, that is exactly what happened.
While fans of the Lakers are not thrilled to see this, one person who is seemingly excited about the Lakers struggling in the Western Conference is NBA analyst Bill Simmons. Simmons took to Twitter to share a screenshot of the bottom half of the Western Conference Standings, with the Lakers now holding onto the 11th seed entering the final stretch of the season.

This is not the first time Simmons has shown himself to be against the Lakers. He has taken the opportunity to slam Russell Westbrook, call out Anthony Davis, and berate the Lakers front office for the decisions they made in the offseason that have led to the troubles that they are having now. On top of that, Simmons has had a complicated history with LeBron James, going all the way back to ‘The Decision’ in 2010.
But Simmons is not down on the Los Angeles Lakers because of LeBron. Rather, his history shows that he would be against the Lakers even if LeBron was not there.
It is understandable why Simmons isn’t a fan of the Lakers, considering that he is a hardcore Boston Celtics fan, and the Los Angeles Lakers are their biggest rivals and the only team that has ever been able to match up with them in terms of championship success in the NBA. So Simmons, as a Celtics fan, is always going to be rooting against the Los Angeles Lakers.
