Blake Griffin To Sign With Brooklyn Nets After Clearing Waivers

Blake Griffin has cleared waivers after ending his tenure with the Detroit Pistons, his team since 2018. The big man was one of the most sought-after players in recent days after reports indicated he was trying to negotiate his way out of Detroit either via trade or with a buyout.

It was the second option for both parties and the former Los Angeles Clippers star was expected, by rival teams, to choose the Brooklyn Nets as his new destination in the league. Time has passed and now he’s cleared waivers, with Shams Charania of The Athletic reporting that he will go to New York to continue his career.

Per Chams, the player is favoring joining a team with three big names like Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving, who have played very well so far and are set to contend for the championship in the second half of the campaign.

Griffin is averaging a career-low 12.3 points per game over 20 appearances this season and although he’s not the human highlight reel he was during his time with the Clippers, he can still be valuable for any franchise in the association.
