Brad Stevens On Kyle Lowry: “He’s An All-Star But He Might Be The Most Underrated Player In The League.”

Kyle Lowry has done everything to help the Toronto Raptors transcend in the NBA, yet he doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Perhaps his association with DeMar DeRozan didn’t work as they wanted but the point guard did a terrific job being Kawhi Leonard’s sidekick and now he’s doing a similar job with Pascal Siakam. He has proven in both situations that he can do the job and actually being helpful to the Raptors.

Still, some people disrespect him all the time, overlooking Lowry, no matter how good he plays, how he helps his teammates and what a good defense he plays. Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens has talked about Lowry, praising him for his level and stating he might be one of the most underrated players in the league right now.

This season, even Damian Lillard and Kemba Walker earned a lot of recognition while Lowry is still going against criticism every day.

“I said going into this series that he’s an All-Star, but he might be the most underrated player in the league,” Stevens said ahead of Celtics’ 111-89 victory over the Raptors in Game 5. “I just think he’s a terrific defender, terrific leader, terrific effort player — offensively he puts you in a bind by getting fouled, making tough shots. He does every little thing that helps teams win. Somehow he’s been under-appreciated. The more people watch him in these settings, the more he’s appreciated. He’s an amazing player, and certainly is a big engine for them.”

Brad Stevens on Kyle Lowry: "He's an all-star but he might be the most underrated player in the league… He does everything you need to win. Somehow he's been under-appreciated, but I think the more people watch him in these setting the more people appreciate him."

Lowry has been terrific for the Raptors this series; he went off with 31 points in Game 3, which was decided by a game-winning buzzer-beater from OG Anunoby. In Game 4, he recorded a double-double to help the Canadians tie the series. Now they have to win the next game or their bubble dream is over. The Celtics will try to finish the job but you never have to underestimate the reigning champion.

Seeing Stevens’ words, we know he won’t take any chances against Lowry and his team.
