Breaking: Miami Heat Will Sign Bam Adebayo To 5-Year, $163 Million Deal

Bam Adebayo, one of the biggest names left to sign a contract extension is reportedly working to get a deal done with his team. The big man is coming from a huge season with the Miami Heat, where he helped them reach important stages, playing in the Finals after six years and actually pushing the Los Angeles Lakers to six games in the 2020 NBA Finals.

A lot was said about the Heat and Adebayo in the past couple of months, especially knowing their plans to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo next year. Now that could be very different as recent reports indicate the Heat are all-in about Bam, which changes everything for Miami and Giannis. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports the Heat are planning to sign Adebayo to a five-year, $163 million deal.

Adebayo is eligible for a rookie maximum contract — $163M with trigger for $195.6M — and Miami plans to sign him to the new deal, source says. https://t.co/4UCqLdLKLx

The player became an All-Star last year and his future, just like his team’s, is very bright. Adebayo is one of the best big men in the league and the Heat know they can’t lose him, even if that means they will lose Giannis. Now he’s set to sign a new contract and the Heat are ready to run it back after having a terrific 2019/20 NBA season.

Extending Bam now doesn’t allow the Heat to maintain cap flexibility. It looks like the pursuit of Giannis could be over.

Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo will remain together the next season and Miami fans can’t be more excited about it.
