Russell Westbrook has been criticized a lot during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers. There’s no doubt that his play has been frustrating for a lot of fans and analysts alike.

At one point, there were even death threats from fans toward Russell Westbrook and his family. His wife Nina Westbrook has previously revealed that she gets “harassed on a daily basis” and called out Lakers fans for sending those death threats.

When I’m being harassed on a daily basis over basketball games, and I’m having obscenity’s and death wishes for me and my family sent my way because you’re expressing your “truth”, it’s hard for me to get on board with that.

There is no doubt that Russell Westbrook’s situation with the Los Angeles Lakers isn’t the best currently, and perhaps he and the franchise should part ways. Brian Windhorst has recently claimed that he’d try to trade Russell Westbrook if he were the Los Angeles Lakers, claiming that “they should call all 29 other teams” and ask them if they would be willing to take on Russell Westbrook’s expiring contract. (3:15)

“Into the offseason, the longer range, I would love to tell you that I had a blueprint ready for what the Lakers need to do. The only thing I can say is they should call all 29 other teams and say, ‘What will you give me for Russell Westbrook as an expiring contract? We are willing to take back money. You’re not trading for him as a player. You’re trading for him as an expiring contract — $47 million.’”

Trading Russell Westbrook would be beneficial for both him and the team. Russell Westbrook would get a new opportunity elsewhere, while the team will also get a new look, with multiple players likely coming back in return for the point guard due to his high salary.

It remains to be seen if the Los Angeles Lakers do in fact end up trading Russell Westbrook. That is likely easier said than done. Hopefully, we see him do better, whether he leaves the Lakers or ends up staying with the team.
