Russell Westbrook has some solid backing from Indiana Pacers sharpshooter Buddy Hield as the Utah Jazz guard looks for his landing spot.
Westbrook was traded to the Jazz in a three-team trade and has been looked at as one of the prime buyout candidates. He has been linked to the LA Clippers as his next destination.
Hield backed the explosive guard to win a championship, the same thought expressed by Paul George who has been publicly recruiting Westbrook.
“He’s a good dude man. I think people give him a lot of crap for how he plays. He’s a Hall-of-Famer, I feel like people don’t give him the respect that he deserves.”
Westbrook had a tumultuous tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers. The second season with LA saw him embrace the role of the team’s sixth man — a move that garnered attention from multiple teams ahead of the trade deadline.
LA Clippers See Russell Westbrook As A Starter
The Clippers were looking at Westbrook as one of the starters alongside their superstars Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. The guard’s acute playmaking skills come as a good fit with the duo.
George also believed that Westbrook would be a good addition to the Clippers and that he would make the game easy.
“If there’s somebody out there, Russell. You know, if it makes sense and obviously it goes with our team, we’re all for it. We’re all for having a point guard. But you know, in saying that, I think we’re good as well if nothing happens. I think we’ve got enough in this locker room to make it work. But it would definitely improve our team… Make the game easy. Hopefully Russell sees this, and we figure something out.”
Reports suggest that the explosive guard has been weighing his options and will look at the All-Star break to rejuvenate before making a final call on where he wants to suit up next.
Only time will tell if he will indeed play for the Clippers and win a title like how Hield and George want him to.
