Cade Cunningham is one of the most promising rookies in the league currently. He is known for being proficient at both scoring and playmaking, and as the No. 1 pick from the 2021 NBA Draft class, he is viewed as the face of the Detroit Pistons. Currently, Cade Cunningham is averaging 17.1 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 5.5 APG.

In the past, we’ve seen many athletes go vegan to improve their performance on the court. It seems as though Cade Cunningham is an NBA player that has gone vegan. When speaking to Marc Spears of Andscape, Cunningham opened up about his experience with veganism.

I got a chef right now that’s been amazing for me, so I’m at the house eating a lot. Pasta. I had [veggie] burgers [Monday] night. I like most comfort food. She makes it vegan and really well. So, being able to have comfort food, everyday food, and the way she makes it vegan, I don’t have to worry about anything when I’m home. I couldn’t ask for nothing else. She’s making mac and cheese. Pizza. She is making everything.

As a vegan, I don’t have the desire to eat meat anymore. I’m at the point now where it’s almost unappealing. I’ve done a lot of research and stuff on veganism. So, at this point, I’ve heard so many more things that are cons instead of pros about meat that it’s not really very appealing to me anymore. It’s actually crazy. I feel like I could eat less now as a vegan. My stomach has shrunk a little bit to where I don’t need as much food just because my body can use all the food that it eats.

There is no doubt that the NBA is a competitive league, and players can generally use every edge that they can get on the opposition. It is clear that Cade Cunningham is fine with not eating meat to be healthier, and he claimed that meat is “not really very appealing” to him since he became a vegan.

Hopefully, we see Cade Cunningham develop into the superstar that most expect him to be. He is already a solid player, and there’s no doubt that he has the talent to be a top-tier player in this league.
