The Boston Celtics have been the NBA’s best team all season long, and Jayon Tatum has been their best player for years. So when No. 0 was named as an NBA All-Star starter on Thursday, it came as a shock to nobody.

By all accounts, Tatum was an easy choice for the All-Star game, and he is even building a case for MVP. Averaging 31 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game on 46.8% shooting, the Celtics star has emerged as one of the best players in basketball this season.

After being recognized for his spectacular campaign, Tatum sent a humbling message to the world and his fans as he explained what the moment meant for him.

“Feels great,” Tatum said. “Something I never wanted to get used to or take for granted. Extremely blessed to be in this situation, it’s something I dreamed about as a kid. I’m for sure excited, shoutout to all my teammates, helped me get this. But we gotta get a win tonight.”

Tatum has started in the big game before, but this is his first time getting voted in rather than being a replacement for someone else. And while he wasn’t the leading vote-getter, his popularity and recognition by the fans is proof that his season in Boston has not gone unnoticed.

Are The Celtics The Favorite To Win The NBA Title This Season?

The Cs have the best record in the NBA so far and they don’t look on track to slow down anytime soon. With Tatum, Brown, and an impressive supporting cast, Boston has everything they need to raise the Larry O’Brien trophy this summer.

“Boston’s the best team in basketball,” said Stephen A. Smith. “They can hurt you in a multitude of ways. Right now, I don’t think anybody would argue with the fact that Jayson Tatum is a leading league MVP candidate, he is a superstar. They have the best depth in the NBA, one could argue about Denver as well, but I’m gonna pick the Celtics for the moment. And, not to mention the fact that their defense can turn it up a notch whenever Robert Williams is on the court. Right now, the Boston Celtics are easily the favorites to win it all.”

The job is not finished, of course, but the Celtics are definitely a team to fear as the NBA regular season hits the home stretch. They have been one of the most consistent teams since the very beginning and Tatum has been a huge part of that.

Still, the young star isn’t going to let his latest accolade cloud his focus on the quest for a ring.
