Chadwick Boseman Shared Epic Story About Kobe Bryant’s Work Ethic And Determination

3 Min Read

The world has lost yet another star this year. After four years battling colon cancer, Hollywood actor Chadwick Boseman passed away after a short, yet terrific career. The Black Panther star had a big connection with the NBA and everybody in the league lamented his departure from this world as soon as the news saw the light. Boseman was 43, just two years older than Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash last January 26.

Curiously, the path of these two men crossed but not on the NBA court. After his retirement, Kobe explored new activities and he started writing poems and even a short film that earned him an Oscar award in 2018. It was during that time that Bryant met Boseman, leaving a huge impression on the actor. Chadwick told the anecdote, claiming Kobe is right like people say he is, admirable.

“We were sitting in a party and talking about philosophies and poetry and guess who he was? He was like, ‘This is what I’m into right now as an artist. Not as a basketball player. This is what I’m doing right now as an artist.’

“We started talking about, ‘Yo, we should do something together,’” Boseman continued. “He was applying the same type of focus that he’s applied that basketball, as a producer or director, whatever.”

“He looked at me and I saw his eyes go in like he was meditating,” Boseman added. “He looked up to me and he said, ‘Two years.’ It’s like he saw the whole thing fall and he was like, ‘I need two years.’” Boseman was stunned by Kobe’s approach, which made him go to his fiance and say, “Yo, he is who they say he is.”

That was Kobe doing Kobe things. That man had a different mentality, when he put his focus and attention on something, he didn’t stop until he achieves it. That’s how he became so successful both on and off the court. Kobe and Boseman will always be remembered for the great things they did in their careers. They left this world way too soon but gladly, they gave us plenty of things to remember them with a happy face.
