Channing Frye Says LeBron James Should Retire: “If LeBron Is Averaging Less Than 25 Points A Game, I Think He Should Retire…”

After LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the 2021 NBA playoffs, many questions were raised on the 4x NBA champion and his status for the next season. He’s turning 37 in December and is already showing signs of slowing down.

Of course, he had to deal with injuries this campaign but Bron is confident he can return at a good level next campaign. However, other people aren’t convinced that he should come back with the Lakers, including a former teammate.

After Game 6 was over, Channing Frye claimed LeBron should retire if he’s averaging less than 25 PPG.

“If LeBron is averaging less than 25 points a game… I think he should retire… Who are the Lakers bringing in or trading for that can put him over over the top? Have you seen the free agents? There’s nobody.”

Even though he’s still great, James isn’t getting any younger. He’s not the same guy who carried the Cleveland Cavaliers during his two stints with the team. The absence of Anthony Davis showed that Bron can still be relevant for a team, but he needs more help than the Lakers offered him to beat the Phoenix Suns.

This is a bold claim and LeBron will surely ignore it, but the notion that the end of his career is getting closer becomes bigger by the day.
