The Boston Celtics eked out a narrow victory over the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics had a fairly significant lead for a significant portion of the game but then gave up that lead in the closing stretch. However, they were saved by Derrick White’s buzzer-beating tip-in to win the game.

One person who was frustrated with the Celtics’ performance was Charles Barkley. During a post-game interview, Barkley asked Jaylen Brown “I don’t understand. You said, ‘We’re up 10.’ You guys gotta win. Why do y’all relax? I mean, because y’all (have) done it all playoffs long, and then you got in the hole, 0-3, by doing that. What is it about y’all just don’t say, ‘Let’s just kill these dudes and get it over with?’”

(From 1:38 mark)

Barkley was fair in questioning why the Celtics didn’t close the game out well. Had the Celtics kept their foot on the pedal, they could have avoided any need for last-second theatrics from Derrick White. But the Celtics will not be too upset, as things ended well for them regardless.

Can The Celtics Complete The Comeback?

The Celtics are now on the verge of completing one of the greatest comebacks in NBA history. Should they win Game 7 in Boston, the Celtics will become the first team in NBA history to overcome a 3-0 deficit and win a playoff series. And to add to that, the Celtics will return to the NBA Finals, and have a chance to redeem their failure from last year.

The Heat will not give up so easily. Jimmy Butler came out after the game and guaranteed the Heat will be winning Game 7. The Celtics will have home-court advantage in Game 7, but they will need to perform at the highest level to make sure they can win.
