Charles Barkley has given his opinion on all the comments made about Isiah Thomas, his rivalry with Michael Jordan and his snub from the 1992 Dream Team. Barkley was part of that team, and he reflected on the ‘disrespect’ Thomas received after his appearance on Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls’ documentary ‘The Last Dance’.
“I felt bad for Isiah Thomas to be honest with you because I worked with him and I like him a lot. I thought some of the conversations were disrespectful to Isiah. Isiah and the Bad Boys are one of the best teams to ever do it.”
“I was mad last week how different news outlets tried to make Isiah be a bad guy. He made a mistake not shaking Michael Jordan’s hand, but after that, he should have been on the Dream Team.”
Chuck then called Thomas the ‘best pure point guard’ in NBA history, expressing his unhappiness with how Thomas is often forgotten when people talk about the greatest point guards in the history of the game.
“I thought some of the stuff that happened to Isiah last week was disrespectful because he’s the greatest ‘pure’ point guard ever, him and John Stockton. Magic is the greatest point guard ever, but he’s a freak of nature. But Isiah and Stockton are the two best ‘pure’ – when I say ‘pure’, I mean little guys – to play the PG position. They’re the best to ever do it.”
A lot has been said about the ‘Bad Boys’ Detroit Pistons, but people often focus more on the bad things they did instead of how they damaged everybody’s plans during the last years of the 90s. They dethrone the Boston Celtics in the East before they took on the Lakers in the NBA Finals and won two straight championships.
Thomas is indeed one of the best PGs in the history of the game, but that’s not what people talk about whenever his name is mentioned.
