Even though Russell Westbrook struggled during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, he has clearly bounced back now that he is on the Los Angeles Clippers. It is obvious that Westbrook is still a capable starting-level point guard, even if he is no longer the MVP he once was.

After the Portland Trail Blazers faced the Los Angeles Clippers, Chauncey Billups commented on Russell Westbrook’s fit with his new team. He claimed that the Clippers were right to gamble on Westbrook.

“I thought it was a good gamble to take, to be honest with you. They are what they both needed at this time if that makes sense. Russ needed somebody that was going to hug him,” Billups said.

Even though many people doubted Russell Westbrook’s fit with the Los Angeles Clippers, he has accepted his role and managed to do well playing off Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Russell Westbrook has put up 15.1 PPG, 4.7 RPG, and 7.6 APG during his time with the Los Angeles Clippers. His efficiency improved after being surrounded by 3PT shooting, and hopefully, we see him continue playing well into the playoffs.

Kawhi Leonard Has Praised Russell Westbrook For His Contributions To The Clippers

There’s no doubt that Russell Westbrook has been highly impactful for the Los Angeles Clippers, and the team clearly appreciates him for what he brings to the table. Kawhi Leonard praised the point guard not long ago, claiming that he is helping the team be “better” and “faster”.

“Every night he’s coming out with energy. No matter what game it is. He’s helping us be a better team, be a faster team, and be more organized with him having the ball and putting us in our spots.”

If Russell Westbrook got the stamp of approval from Kawhi Leonard, he is clearly doing something right. The Lakers were clearly using him wrong, and it’s good to see the point guard thrive. The Clippers look likely to clinch a playoff spot this year, even without the presence of Paul George due to the forward’s knee injury. Hopefully, we see them have a competitive first-round matchup against the Phoenix Suns (their likely opponent), but it will definitely be an uphill battle for them due to their relative lack of firepower.

It remains to be seen if Russell Westbrook can help the Los Angeles Clippers win a championship. He has definitely been good for them thus far, and his knowledge of the game will be very useful to a team looking to make a deep run like the Clippers.
