Big man Chet Holmgren is one of the top young prospects in the league right now, with him having guard-like skills while being 7’1″ with a 7’6″ wingspan. He also projects to be a solid rim protector at the NBA level.
Unfortunately, Chet Holmgren missed the entire 2022-23 season with a Lisfranc injury to his foot. However, he has recovered successfully and even played in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s recent Summer League game. After the game, Holmgren provided an update on his injury, claiming that he feels as though his Lisfranc injury never happened.
“It’s like the injury never happened…if you erased my memory, I wouldn’t know anything happened to my foot,” Holmgren claimed, per Kade Kimble of Fan Nation.
There is no doubt that this is good to hear, and it will be interesting to see how Chet Holmgren does in the league this season. Ultimately, the first step is recovering fully from the injury, and it seems as though Holmgren has done that.
In his first Summer League game, Chet Holmgren tallied 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He showcased his two-way potential, and it’ll be exciting to finally watch him play in the NBA.
Chet Holmgren Thinks He, Josh Giddey, And Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Can Be The Next Big Three For The Oklahoma City Thunder
There is no doubt that the Oklahoma City Thunder are known for drafting well, and they once had Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, and James Harden on the same squad. Previously, Chet Holmgren claimed that he, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Josh Giddey can be the next version of that.
“Obviously, I believe in the players we have on this team, I believe in the coaching staff, I believe in the organization as a whole, so the answer is an obvious yes. I think we can reach really high heights. At the end of the day, it’s going to come down to what the guys in the locker decide to come together and achieve. It’s not going to be an overnight thing. We’re having early success, but just because we’re having success doesn’t make it easy for the next 10 years. We’re still going to have to work hard and work through different challenges. That’s something that we’ll strive to do. We got a lot of high-quality characters in our locker room, so I’m excited to get out there and work with those guys.” (h/t Complex)
It remains to be seen how the Oklahoma City Thunder will do over the next few years. Chet Holmgren’s development will be key for them, and hopefully, he can become a superstar.
