Chris Broussard Says Anthony Davis Is “Key” To Lakers Winning 2020 NBA Finals

With the season set to restart in Orlando later this month, teams around the league are preparing to gear up for a championship run. The Lakers, who finished with the West’s best regular-season record, are expected to be among the biggest contenders to represent their conference in the Finals.

But when talking about what they need to do to secure a chip, FOX Sports analyst Chris Broussard said it is Anthony Davis, more os than LeBron, who is the key to them meeting their goals.

“AD definitely has another gear. I think AD for the first time in his career since maybe Kentucky where any given night he doesn’t have to be the main scorer. I think he’s so efficient and so unselfish that sometimes he tends to be too passive. We need him to be more aggressive.

We’re going to need him to be physical. We’re going to need him to be dominant. Defensively, I don’t have any worry. Offensively, it’s not a worry. I just want him to be aggressive.

AD is going to be the most critical part of us on our quest for a championship in the bubble.”

35-year-old LeBron James is the best player and also the team’s undisputed leader. He orchestrates the offense, commands his troops in the locker room, and sets the tone defensively.

But Bron isn’t the same player he used to be and his weakened athleticism/durability makes it harder for him to carry the load. Davis needs to step up and take a larger role, especially against opponents under the rim.

He’s done well enough so far, averaging 26 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game on 51% shooting, but it remains to be seen how much higher he can elevate his game…
