As a natural leader and the de-facto face of the franchise, LeBron James controls a lot of what happens in the Lakers organization. He has a say in team decisions, a relationship with those at the top, and respect from everyone within the team.
In fact, James recently pointed out that the dynamic he currently has with team management and ownership is the best he’s had with any team in his career.
“LeBron James is getting even more comfortable being a Los Angeles Laker, and he told me the connection with the front office and ownership group is the best he’s had in his NBA career.”
Keeping a good relationship with Jeanie, Rob Pelinka, and others are important in helping LeBron feel comfortable and welcome as a superstar in Los Angeles. In Cleveland, his ongoing battle with team owner Dan Gilbert was likely part of the reason he chose to leave a second time.
With the Lakers in firm position for a long postseason run, they will need Bron at his best if they want to go all the way. At 35-years-old, there’s no telling how much longer he can play at an elite level, But, for now, the Lakers are doing just about everything right as they head into the All-Star break.
