In a recent appearance on ‘The Draymond Green Show,’ Chris Paul revealed his aspirations beyond playing in the NBA, expressing a desire to become a part of an ownership group for an NBA team after his retirement. The veteran point guard outlined several reasons behind this ambition, emphasizing his deep love for the game and a longing to be more present in his family life, particularly with his children.

“Man, I definitely want to be in an ownership group. It’s a few reasons, but one of them is my love for the game. Dray, you like me, we try to give back to LA and see our family as much as possible. I didn’t miss so much of my kids’ lives that everybody be like, oh, you’re going to be a coach. I coach AAU. I do that now.”

“But I actually want to be present for some of the stuff that my kids have going on. And the reason why I want to be in ownership is because you have an opportunity to impact in a lot of different ways.”

“For playing for so long and on so many teams, I’ve had a front class seat in the CBA negotiations to see what this team does right, what this team does right. Been in the locker room for this long, so you see how a lot of the most successful teams, there’s a bond that’s necessary.”

Chris Paul highlighted his commitment to giving back to Los Angeles and spending time with his family. He acknowledged the sacrifices players make in terms of missing significant moments in their families’ lives due to the demands of a professional basketball career.

While he currently coaches AAU and is involved in various ventures, including a production company, a cricket team, and an AAA team in his hometown, Paul sees ownership as an opportunity to have a more direct impact on the league.

Drawing on his extensive experience playing for multiple teams and witnessing CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) negotiations, Chris Paul believes ownership provides a unique platform to influence the game positively. Having been part of various locker rooms throughout his career, he recognizes the importance of team bonds in the success of a franchise.

Beyond the confines of the court, Paul expressed a keen interest in exploring diverse investments and continuing his involvement in different ventures. Despite his active engagement in various projects, Chris Paul made it clear that he has a dynamic and restless spirit, stating, “I just can’t sit still.”

This restlessness and eagerness to contribute to the basketball world in different capacities underscore Chris Paul’s multifaceted approach to his post-playing career, with ownership being a key element of his future plans.

Chris Paul Could Join LeBron James And Shaquille O’Neal In An Ownership

The prospect of LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal joining forces in NBA team ownership has been a topic of interest and speculation in recent times. Both basketball legends have openly expressed their intentions to venture into team ownership after their playing careers.

Shaquille O’Neal, known for his larger-than-life personality and business acumen, has taken the initiative by inviting LeBron James to co-own an NBA team in Las Vegas, considering the city as a potential location for an expansion team.

Chris Paul, with a net worth of $160 million as of 2024, could play a pivotal role in such an ownership venture. His financial standing, coupled with the desire of LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal to delve into ownership, creates a compelling possibility of a formidable trio entering the NBA ownership realm. The idea of these three influential figures collaborating to own a team holds significant potential for success, both on and off the court.

LeBron James, widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players in history, has consistently demonstrated leadership both on and off the court. His impact on and off the hardwood has positioned him as a powerful figure in the sports world. Shaquille O’Neal, a dominant force during his playing days, has successfully transitioned into a multi-faceted career, including ventures in business, entertainment, and sports commentary.

Combining the skills, experience, and financial prowess of LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, and Chris Paul in team ownership could bring a unique and dynamic perspective to the league. This potential ownership group could not only contribute to the success of a franchise but also shape the future landscape of NBA ownership, bringing together three iconic figures to make a lasting impact in the realm of professional basketball.
