Christian Wood Can’t Wait To Play Against Anthony Davis: “There Are A Few Games I’ve Circled On The Calendar. Going Against Him And The Lakers Is Definitely One That I Circled. I’m Going To Go Against Him With Everything I’ve Got.”

The Houston Rockets face the Los Angeles Lakers in back-to-back games in the next couple of days and Christian Wood can’t wait to face the current NBA champions one of their stars, big man Anthony Davis. AD has been terrific for the Lakers ever since he landed in Los Angeles in the summer of 2019.

You can say the same about Wood, who is considered a still this season after signing a 3-year, $41 million deal with the Rockets. He has been ballin’ this season but now he will face a big test against Davis and the Lakers. Fortunately for the Rockets, Wood isn’t afraid of the challenge and he even “circled” these two next games.

“There’s a few games that I’ve circled on the calendar… and playing against [Anthony Davis] and the Lakers is definitely a game I circled,” Wood said after Houston’s win over the Orlando Magic on Friday night. “He’s a guy I’ve watched, with his moves. In my head, it’s going to be a fun matchup, and I’m going to go at him with everything I’ve got.”

The Rockets haven’t had the best season so far but the Texans hope to extend their momentum this Sunday and next Tuesday. The rival won’t be as easy as the Magic (who lost by 42 against them), and that’s exactly what Wood and co. want to see. The Lakers are the toughest test for any team in the league and the Rockets aren’t the exception.

“It’s definitely early in the season, but these two games are going to show us where we’re at defensively. and even offensively, too,” said Wood, who is averaging more than 23 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks per game. “This is definitely going to be a test for us. I think guys are ready, and we’re starting to come into our own. This game was just a stepping stone. Heading into next game, we have to keep the same pressure.”

It remains to be seen if AD will play this Sunday, though, after he missed Friday’s night showdown against Chicago Bulls due to a right adductor strain. Wood seems very hyped and fans can’t wait to see the duel between these two bigs.
