Dallas Mavericks Are Favorites To Sign Goran Dragic As Spurs Plan To Buy Him Out

After a rocky tenure with the Toronto Raptors, Goran Dragic is ready to find a new team in the league. The Slovenian point guard was linked with a move away from the Canadian team, and he finally got it, as the Raptors have traded him to the San Antonio Spurs.

Initially, this looks like a good move by the Spurs, but they aren’t planning on keeping Dragic on the roster after the trade deadline. He could stay in Texas, but with a different franchise, teaming up with one of his best friends.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the Spurs will buy out Dragic once the trade is complete, making him free to sign with any franchise. The Dallas Mavericks are the favorite team to sign the player and pair him with Luka Doncic.

Upon completion of an expected buyout between Goran Dragic and the San Antonio Spurs, the Dallas Mavericks will be the favorites to add the veteran point guard.

This would be a good addition to the Mavericks, who are still trying to create a competitive squad around Luka Doncic. The 22-year-old is still trying to lead his team past the first round of the NBA playoffs and this new piece could be the key for that.

They still have work to do, but having Dragic on the roster is a push for the Mavs. Perhaps this won’t be the last move they make today, but we need to sit and wait for what their new front office can pull off in the next couple of hours.
