Damian Lillard Names Himself And 4 More Players Who Could Break Kobe Bryant’s 81-Point Record

3 Min Read

Damian Lillard selected five players that can break Kobe Bryant’s record of 81 points in a single game. This looks incredibly hard to achieve, regardless of how easy it is to score right now.

Dame has become one of the biggest threats for defenses in the past couple of seasons. The Portland Trail Blazers point guard is one of the most dangerous scorers out there, torching teams like it’s nothing. Therefore, you can think of him as one of the players that could challenge Kobe’s impressive record.

After that night in 2006, we’ve seen several players come close to that, scoring 70, 60, and 50. People think we’re close to seeing somebody tying or surpassing Kobe’s record. Lillard picked 5 people who can eventually do it (14:15).

“If somebody gets close to Kobe’s 81, I think it would be between me, Steph, Devin Booker, can really get hot. I would say someone on Brooklyn, but with all three of them being out there, it’s going to be tough. So I would say me, Steph, Devin Booker, Klay could do it, and I think Bradley Beal can do it too,” Dame said on The Dan Patrick Show.

“It’s going to take a crazy night, but it can happen. It would have to be against a team with a big that is not mobile because they wouldn’t be able to be as high like in pick-n-rolls and stuff like that.”

Just like Lillard, plenty of fans think these players can do it. Booker scored 70 points a couple of seasons ago, Bradley Beal dropped 60, Curry scored 62 this season, Lillard went off with 61 last season, the same number as Klay Thompson.

Any of these guys can do it if they’re inspired. Just like Kobe was that January 15 years ago. He went off on the Toronto Raptors and cooked them for 81.

If this happens, that would be crazy for the NBA community. That’s something that seems nearly impossible right now. Still, these five names can do the job if they activate that Mamba Mentality.
