Damian Lillard: “The Lakers Are The #1 Seed In The West For A Reason. LeBron James Is The Best Player In The World… We Have A Chance In The Series Against Anybody In This League.”

2 Min Read

Facing off against LeBron James and the L.A. Lakers is never easy, regardless of the setting. After securing the number one seed in the West, the Lakers are in a position to make a long and successful run for the 2020 title.

Their first challenge? Getting past the eight-seeded Blazers, who have been playing astoundingly well since the return of their two big men, Jusuf Nurkic and Zach Collins.

It will be an interesting matchup and while Portland is one of the deepest eight-seeded teams in the league, beating the Lakers will be the hardest mission they’ve had all season. Damian Lillard and his squad are not taking it lightly…

“I’ve been seeing everybody saying what we’re going to do to the Lakers. But the Lakers, they’re the #1 seed in the West for a reason. They got the best player in the world on that team.”

But Dame isn’t ready to concede the series just yet, and he still believes the Blazers can beat anybody in the NBA.

“We didn’t fight as hard as we fought in the bubble to just say we’re the 8th seed, go out there and just get beat up on.”We have a chance in the series against anybody in this league.”

With the way Dame has been playing, nobody should be counting him or his team out. Thanks to his heroics (and inspiring performances from his teammates), Portland is 7-2 in their last 9 games, most of which have been with their backs against the wall.

So, while the Lakers may have the title of being the West’s best team, and have the honor of being led by the league’s best player, don’t be surprised to see the Trail Blazers making things tough for them.

They won’t be rolling over for anybody, not after what they’ve been through to get here.
