The Los Angeles Lakers have been in fine form over the last few weeks and have improved their record in the stretch as well. They have jumped a few spots in the Western Conference table as well, and that too in the absence of LeBron James.

However, the Lakers didn’t get a positive result in their most recent matchup against the New York Knicks. Following the 108-112 defeat, Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell expressed his disappointment over the loss and revealed how hurtful it was for him and the rest of the team.

“That one hurt for us,” Russell said. “I think we were battling; we tried to do everything we could. … It just didn’t go our way, I guess. I don’t want to pinpoint it on anything, I didn’t really see it. It’s a tough one.”

D’Angelo Russell had a great game even after ending up on the losing side. He recorded 33 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists while playing 35 minutes. Apart from Russell, most of the players struggled to get going, and it was the biggest difference between the two teams.

The Los Angeles Lakers Fall To The 11th Seed In The West

Following the defeat at the hands of the New York Knicks, the Lakers now have a 33-35 record. While it is still too low to clinch a permanent spot in the postseason, the Lakers are in fighting distance to make the play-in tournament and even the playoffs.

The Purple and Gold are currently the 11th seed in the conference. Hopefully, Anthony Davis can carry the Lakers to a better record when it’s all said and done.

After all, it’s rare for Davis to have very poor games for the Lakers. He had one against the Knicks, which will hopefully mean that Davis will make a huge comeback during the Lakers’ next game.
